  • Harvest

    Thu 17 Sep 2015

A big thank you to everyone who donated food gifts during our Harvest Festival.  These were collected the very same day and taken to a local food bank to support families who are in need.

I hope you have had some interesting discussions around the tea table talking about the issues of whether we have enough food to feed everyone and if we do, why are so many pepole starving?  I was very impressed with the maturity and ability to reason shown by our Badgers when we were discussing this issue last week.  We have some politicians (and maybe even a Prime Minister) in the making.

If you have made a pledge as a family to reduce your food waste, please do pop it onto our display in the entrance hall, or ask your child to do so.  We would love to know what everyone is trying to achieve.

We hope everyone who was able to join us for our Music Assembly today, enjoyed it as much as we did.  What a showcase of talent; singers, pianists, a guitar player who composed her own music, recorder players and violinists!  Each class also made a contribution as well as the whole school finishing with the 'Musical Memories' song.

Well done to everyone who participated and thank you to Mrs Antrobus for organising this lovely event.

  • Year 5 Maths Challenge

On the 19<font size="4">t</font>May 2015 Bethan, Lydia, Harry and Jack went to the Sawtry Maths Challenge; there were 14 teams and 7 rounds including Extra thinks and bonus questions. Brington had 4 students representing our school: Bethan, Lydia, Harry and Jack. The competition lasted an hour and a half with Brington battling it out to the bitter end. After 10 minutes waiting for the judges to decide who won, we found out… that Brington had drawn first with Priory Junior School. That means that we will be going to Duxford for the county final in July.

  • Last week of term

    Tue 14 Apr 2015

What a busy last week of term we had!

Indian Day - Badgers enjoyed a very interesting Tuesday at Buckden School learning about Verona in India.  The day included Indian dance, an Indian lunch, water carrying and lots of other interesting activities.  It also gave our Year 6 pupils, both those moving on to Hinchingbrooke and those moving on to Kimbolton, an opportunity to meet pupils from Buckden who would also be transferring to these schools in September.

Hinchingbrooke Maths Challenge - On Wednesday morning, Mrs Johnson and four of our pupils travelled to Hinchingbrooke to take part in a Maths Challenge.  They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and Mrs Johnson says they were a credit to our school.  Well done girls!

Tag Rugby - Wednesday also saw our Tag Rugby team taking part in the Tag Rugby Festival.  They competed against four other teams - and came first!  Their sportsmanship was superb and Toby proved an excellent captain.  Well done to you all.

'Easter' day - On Thursday, all of our pupils were organised into their house groups to participate in 'Easter' day.  The day started with collective worship led by Rev. Brenda and then the children participated in four different activities; one for each of the special days in Holy Week, before finishing with an assembly at the end of the day.

The Big Thank you - On Friday afternoon, we held a Big Thank You tea party, as part of the Diocese of Ely initiative and our Lent Challenge.  The tea party was organised by some of our Year 6 pupils, to say thank to those people in our school community who go the extra mile.  This was followed by a Celebration Assembly where they were all presented with a certificate.

Foxes had a great time this afternoon taking part in lots of activities to help develop their skills to work in a team.  Thanks to Pat Forster from the Huntingdon Sports Partnership for leading this.  Have a look at the team who managed the last activity with not one, not two, but three balls!  Well done to everyone who took part.
