Summer Term 1 2021

I love the Summer Term!  Everything is starting to grow and we can get planting in the school gardens.

This term we are moving our geography focus from South America to North America and exploring some of the countries, climates and cities that make up this amazing continent.  In science we will be taking advantage of the season and looking, in depth, at plants and their life cycles.  We have some super art and computing planned for this term as well as tag rugby and athletics for PE.  We will continue to have our PE lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays this half-term so remember to come into school in your PE kits on those days.

If you would like to know more about what is coming up this half term, please look at the science and geography knowledge organisers below for a little taste.

Spring Term 2021- First Half

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and got to spend some quality time with your family.

This half term our topic this term is The Ancient Maya.  We will start by making links between the changes of this civilisation to events that were happening in different parts of the world.  We will also look at the way the Maya people used to live.  The knowledge organiser for this topic is further down this page so take a look at some of the fascinating facts.

Our science topic this term is lifecycles in plants and animals.  In this topic we will look closely at parts of a plant and the different stages of life for lots of different living creatures.  Once again, have a look at the knowledge organiser below to get a head start on the new things we will learn!

As always, all staff in Brington want you to be happy and feel safe.  You know that you can share any worries that you have with any adults in school.  smiley

In the event of a school closure, this is one way in which staff will contact pupils and also how pupils can contact their teachers if they have any home learning questions.

We investigated Viking joinery methods in preparation for our longhouse build and we used traditional Viking weaving methods to make our own Viking clothing!

Our local community helped us to collect apples so that we could make our own apple juice. We wrote instruction texts which explained how to use the apple press and we used our maths skills to work out how many apples we needed to produce one litre of apple juice. It tasted amazing and the whole school got involved!
